One Year With Kobi

It's hard to think that this time last year we were sat at home waiting for the trainer to bring Kobi over to our house. Kobi has now officially been with us a year, and it's been an eventful one. To celebrate, I wanted to share a few facts about Kobi.

It took a week to adopt Kobi, and we went to the center every day to see him, even if only to take him out for a little walk. When we had our house visit, which was on the Wednesday, I really thought that we weren't going to get him. The lady who came wasn't exactly very nice, and tried to convince us that Kobi would break though the netting and kill all our birds. She then wrote on the paperwork that we had a 3ft fence and gates, when it's 5ft at it's lowest point, and told us that if it was up to her we wouldn't be allowed to adopt Kobi.

So, the house-visit was crap in all honesty. For two people with anxiety, it convinced us that we weren't going to get Kobi. Thank goodness the rest of the people working at the center were really nice and helpful, and on the Friday a trainer brought Kobi to our house to see how he reacted instead of just going off of the house-visit paperwork.

It's been a year since then, and Kobi is the best dog we could have asked for. He suits our lifestyle 100% and in all honesty it's a little weird how well he's fitted in. It was definitely meant to be! So, here are some facts and little stories about Kobi, one for each month he's been with us.

His best friend was our duck Bob, and when Mr. Fox unfortunately took Bob, Kobi was noticeably upset by it.
Since then, he's woken us up at 3am and begged to be let out into the garden to chase off a fox. He jumped the fence, scaring us to death, but by the time we opened the door he was sat there waiting for us.
Kobi likes to check on the chickens when we collect the eggs.
He must smell all the eggs before they can be brought into the house.
He has his own bedtime (7pm) and he makes sure we know it, but won't go to bed on his own.
Kobi is only happy if he gets a cuddle before bed, and in the morning before we get up. Especially from B.
He wears a red jumper in the winter because he gets cold. He even helps put it on, if you hold it out he'll put his head in and lift his paws ready for you.
He loves it when you sing Hearts Don't Break Around Here by Ed Sheeran to him.
Kobi will only eat his food if B prepares it.
During the day, he comes to me for cuddles and B for play time.
He's learnt lots of new things, they're not particularly tricks, but they make life easier for all of us.
His favourite toys are his Frisbee, a teddy bear with lavender inside (it's meant to be a puppy toy), and his squeaky tennis ball.
