Why I believe Everyone is a Reader

I've had a few people say to me that they're "not much of a reader" over my life, and to be honest I used to say it too. I absolutely hated reading with all my heart. I failed multiple assignments at school simply because I could not get into reading the book they wanted the assignment to be about. i mean, in this post I even mention how I watched the film version and used that instead of reading the book.

Anyway, I digress. Once I was about 13, my mum bought me the Twilight books. I hadn't seen the film at the time, but it was all the rage at school. I read the first, and then whizzed through all of the rest! My copy of Twilight looks like it got caught in a stampede I've read it so many times. Since then I've read a lot of books, and I love getting lost in a book in the evenings.

I went from absolutely loathing books to loving them dearly.

I think loving or hating reading has a lot to do with finding the right type of book. I love young adult, romance, sci-fi, and all that jazz, but however much I may love reading those kinds of books I still won't read a history book. Some might say this makes me "not a real book lover" but as long as I love the books I read, I'm happy.

Finding the right kind of book to read would make everyone a book lover. Services like Audible and the like have made it so much easier for everyone. Those who may be disabled in a way it affects them being able to read, can still listen to the story. Those who may just be too busy to read can now listen while they're in the gym or doing the washing up. It's also a great way to find what kind of books you really like.

One of my personal goals for the new year is to read more. I've hit an all time low on the reading side of things, and I really do miss it. I've set myself up to read at least one book a month, and I'll be sharing my progress here on the blog! If you'd like to see how it goes, you can keep up to date on Twitter or Instagram!

Do you read a lot? If not, do you think you'll try to in the new year? Let me know down below!
