My Thoughts on American Horror Story: Roanoke

Hey everyone! Well wow. I've just finished watching American Horror Story's My Roanoke Nightmare, and somehow I'm speechless but need to say all the things at once.

If you've not watched this season and don't like spoilers, I'll try not to really spoil anything in this post but I can't guarantee there won't be any at all!

First of all, I did enjoy it. I'm obviously back into the horror groove after not being able to watch any for Halloween, as I could barely watch Sweeny Todd let alone something like Roanoke. It did actually make me a little scared to go up to bed last but all in all I did enjoy watching it.

I might have enjoyed it but I do have a couple things that either didn't quite make sense for me, or that I found a little off putting.

First of all, how gruesome it was. I can't seem to remember any of the other AHS series being so...bloody or gutsy. This series was definitely a lot harder to stomach (I did hide behind my dressing gown a couple times) but I suppose it wasn't surprising considering it's American Horror Story.

The ending (or what I thought was the ending) got quite confusing. It might be because it felt like it was the end of the series way before it actually was, but it felt dragged out once they'd done Three Days in Hell.

Apart from being dragged out, and a little too bloody for my liking, it was a good series. I like the take they have on the Lost Colony who disappeared in 1590, and to be honest it's made me very interested in what's happened to the colony and the theories that people come up with.

It says in the beginning that it's based on a true story, but I think the only true part is the disappearance of the colony, rather than all the haunting and the farmhouse. I'm sure it would be quite common knowledge if people were claiming that The Butcher and the rest of the colony turned up for a party at their house on the regular. The Polk Farm bit could be loosely based on truth but I sincerely hope not!

Have you seen this series of American Horror Story? What are your thoughts? Let me know down below!
