Favourite Christmas Movies

If one thing annoys my other half about me, it would probably be that I'm SO picky with movies, and that includes Christmas movies. If I'm not enjoying a movie by 30 minutes in, I don't waste my time by continuing to watch it. This can be a little bit of a problem when we try to have a movie night with a film we've never watched before!

I don't think that all the movies I don't like are crappy movies, I mainly select movies based on if they set off my anxiety or make me restless. For example, I found The Polar Express to be too slow paced, and now I can't watch it without getting restless and having to do other things in between. So if you don't see one of your faves on this list, don't panic!

My favourite Christmas movies

  • Elf - At first I didn't particularly like Elf, but as the movie went on I really enjoyed it and I'm actually quite upset that I don't have it on DVD!
  • Love Actually - My mum has put this on every single year since we first watched it. At first it started with once or twice, and it's escalated to the point where the last Christmas I was living with her it was on every day since December 1st.
  • The Grinch - I watched this for the first time when I was really young, and then completely forgot about it for years! I only just remembered it's existence a couple of weeks ago when I watched it with my nieces, but it's taken a very definite place on my Christmas movie list.
  • The Nightmare Before Christmas - I've only seen this one a couple of times, but I liked that it's a completely different take on it all. It's definitely not a traditional themed Christmas movie, and there's nothing wrong with that!
  • The Muppet Christmas Carol - I love this movie so much! I can remember having to read a book for the Christmas holidays and having to give in an essay on it, also based on the same story-line as the movie, but I didn't read it as I hated reading Castellano at the time. I wrote my essay while watching this for the millionth time, and I actually got a 4/10! Not a pass, but better than nothing haha! (Please don't take this as advice for any school work, ever!)
  • The Snowman - My mum was a huge fan of this (and still is!) so I watched it quite a lot as a kid. I really love it! I was confused as to why they don't really talk yet the boy sings and the snowmen all dance, but obviously as I've got older I understand it differently and love it even more!
What are your favourite Christmas movies? Are there any you watch as a tradition? Let me know down below!
