Why do I blog?

Hey everyone! I was thinking about blog post ideas today, and a few opinions I have seen about on Twitter popped into my head. I had a crashing moment of thinking that my blog posts weren't interesting enough, that I just ramble on and mention a few bits relevant to the title and hit publish. Then I thought about it a bit more, and realized that even though others might not find me entertaining or particularly relatable, I blog for myself and it's just a bonus that others follow me or read my blog.

And that's where this little post appeared from. While I was having that crushing moment of thinking my blog really wasn't anything special, I started giving myself a little pep-talk. I've been on a little bit of a journey of self discovery when it comes to my blog, and that's where this post and this post came from. I'm not sure if it's to do with where I am in my life right now or what, but I'm learning more about myself and I'm happier with the simpler things. The same applies to blogging.

Why I started Blogging

I've dabbled with blogging since I was about 15 or so. It never lasted very long, I never knew what to write and I had no idea about social media so nobody ever read any of my posts. I didn't have a camera or a phone with a decent camera, so I hardly took any photos. The ones I did I can't bare to think about how yellow and grainy they were!

I was feeling very isolated and lonely in 2016. I had recently moved in with my partner to somewhere I had never been before in my entire life, I knew no one and the few people I'd been introduced to through my partner took a very quick and obvious dislike to me. I spent most of my free time online, and quickly found the blogging community on Twitter. I set up a blog and started blogging pretty much there and then.

Not long after that the people who had taken the dislike to me found my blog. I didn't know how absolutely everything you use the same email for would recommend it to them as they either had my email or my phone number. This even lead to harassment and stalking issues, so I ended up deleting my blog and starting afresh with a separate email not connected to my phone number. I went the extra mile and found these people online and blocked all of them so I wouldn't be recommended at all.

That's when I started Life with Bella N. I'd made a couple blogger friends by this time, and I was a little more savvy when it came to social media.

In short, I started blogging not only as a hobby, but as a way to remind myself that I am a part of something more than just the four walls of my living room.

Why I will continue to blog

Since I started Life with Bella N I've learnt a lot both about myself and blogging. Like I mentioned earlier, I've already written a post touching on this so I won't repeat myself too much.

I continue to blog and will do so for as long as I can simply because there are some absolutely amazing people out there, some of whom I'm lucky enough to have become friends with through my blog, and writing has become a bit of a therapy for me.

When I started blogging I was anxious pretty much all of the time. Since then, I've managed to conquer many situations that I wouldn't have been able to without the help from Mental Health bloggers, and bloggers sharing their own experiences and proving that it certainly does get better. I've learnt so much about the tech side of things thanks to bloggers writing about Marketing, Blogging, and Social Media, and of course people in the community being stars and helping out a newbie!

I might not publish posts as often as other bloggers do, but thanks to blogging and crazy talented people in the community I have accomplished a hell of a lot in the last year and a bit, both inside and outside of blogging.

Why do you blog? If you have covered that question in a post please let me know and send me a link!

Thank you for reading,
Love, Bella xo
