Homemaking Tag

I found this tag on Youtube the other night and thought it'd be fun to do!

Have you ever had anyone say anything negative to you about staying home/ working from home?
All the time! I've pretty much heard it all by this point, but it tends to always come from people who either want to stay home but can't or from people who don't understand how it works for us.

What is your favourite/ least favourite part of staying home/ working from home?
My favourite part is getting to be here whenever my other half needs me and being able to have our dog and chickens, which wouldn't be possible if we both worked. My least favourite part is the negative comments I get from people.

What is your favourite/ least favourite chore?
I think my favourite chore would have to be hoovering, especially when I use something extra to get the carpet cleaner. My least favourite is the washing up!

What time do you wake up and go to bed?
I usually wake up between 5am and 6:30am, and I tend to go to bed around 8pm but I don't go to sleep until 9pm or so.

Do you put anything on in the background while you clean/ work/ cook?
I used to have the TV on in the background, but I've stopped doing that now and I listen to music or a podcast while I clean.

Do you get dressed most days or stay in PJs?
I get dressed most days, the only days I don't tend to be bad mental health days so I don't worry too much about what I'm wearing.

How often do you do your hair and makeup?
Only when I really feel like a pick-me-up, as I very rarely have the motivation and patience (or time) to sort my hair out and I stopped doing my makeup a long time ago so I usually forget about it.

What is your "trouble zone" or area in your home that needs the most help?
Definitely the kitchen. It gets used all day everyday, and it seems to just never end! Especially the washing up.

How often do you find yourself getting distracted?
I wouldn't say very often, unless I'm particularly stressed and have a million things on my mind and I find it hard to concentrate.

Do you enjoy staying home or do you miss going to a job every day?
I enjoy staying home so much. Some people think it's all sitting about and doing nothing all day, when it's really not.

What is your "never ending" chore?
The washing up!

What is your favourite way to relax or have "me" time?
I ignored having any "me" time for ages, I used to think that as I didn't go to work every day I didn't need to relax. How wrong I was! I now make sure to relax, de-stress, and have some "me" time at least once a week. Right now my little treat is a charcoal face-mask twice a week.

How often does your partner chip in?
If I really need some help, my other half will help me with whatever. Other than those occasions, I do all the housework and cooking.

If you have kids, when do you find time to do chores?
Unfortunately I don't have kids.

How do you balance being a homemaker and creating content?
Some days it's hard, but I try to balance it out over the week. Being ahead of the game and having posts scheduled help a lot!

What is your favourite room in your home and why?
The front room/ living room. It's where it's coziest, with blankets and cushions on the sofas, and where we all cuddle up on the sofa.

What is your least favourite room in your home and why?
The dinning room. I don't like the table we have, and the chairs are uncomfortable enough that we end up eating dinner on our laps. I'm not going to complain too much though as they were hand-me-downs.

Do you feel your home reflects your personal style? Why, why not?
No, but I think that has more to do with the house being rented and now our own.

What does your home smell like?
Right now, probably a mix of every candle I have. They're getting low so I've been burning the bottom bits so they can go in the bin.

What is your strong point and weak spot when it comes to homemaking?
I'm not entirely sure. I think my strong point is that once I start a project I like to do a thorough job of it, but that also means I can take a while to finish because I like it all to be organized and done to the best of my ability.

Treat Yourself this Month {sponsored}

Treating yourself is something we should do on the regular, but we often forget or simply don't have the energy to after a long day. I often refer to it as self care, but whatever you call it it's important that you set aside a little time every so often to switch off, relax, and pamper yourself a little.

My Favourite Podcasts

I've been getting into Podcasts for the last few weeks and I've found a few that I absolutely love and listen to almost on a daily basis. Some of them you probably already know but others might be a little more off the beaten track and I wanted to share them with you all.

Why I Unfollowed You on Instagram

I've never been very good with social media. Instagram has always been a task for me, and after a little break from Twitter I have to set myself reminders to even use it. I guess I'm just not a very social person - online or off- but I've been making more of an effort, especially with Instagram. It's been a long process, and I've followed and unfollowed a lot of people on there, so here's why I unfollowed you on Instagram.
